In many parts of the world, democracy is under thereat. Authoritarianism is on the rise, and even in what we had preciously thought of as stable democracies, there have been worrying developments. It is clear, that democracy needs an update – and we are working on it! How can we use digital tools or innovative ways to foster and protect democracy and freedom?  How can we innovate technology for the purpose of advancing democracy? How can we shape technology development in a way that is compatible and complementary to democracy? How can we make digital and technology policy making processes more participatory and transparent?  These are some of the questions we are asking. And we look forward to sharing our findings with you!

On March 21, 2023, the Friedrich-Naumann-Foundation for Freedom (FNF) inaugurated its „Global Innovation Hub“ with a reception in Taipei. Bettina Stark-Watzinger, Germany’s Minister of Education and Research, was the guest of honour and opened the new Global Innovation Hub as a member FNF´s Board of Trustees. She was in Taiwan in her capacity as a Minister.

FNF Global Innovation Hub held the Hacking Democracy Conference: Examples of Collaboration between Civic Tech Communities and Governments around the World on October 27th, 2023, where the participants learned how governments and citizens co-create public digital services together in the workshop session. The Hub also invited the authors of the Hub’s publication sharing the conference’s title to introduce inspiring cases of citizen-government collaboration.

FNF全球創新中心於3月29日在台北舉行了「給民主人權倡議者的資料處理訓練工作坊」，並發布了一份指南，提供民主與人權倡議者處理資料的準則，進而將資料轉變成對其倡議工作有用的資源。該工作坊與指南旨在提供倡議者一個系統性的資料處理框架、使用資料處理軟體的訓練，以及如何正確使用AI工具進行資料處理的知識。

Seitdem versucht das Regime von Staatschef Putin die russische Wirtschaft und vor allem den Rubel mit allen Mitteln zu stabilisieren. Insbesondere aus China wird dabei Hilfe erwartet. Doch ganz so einfach ist das nicht.

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) promotes democracy, human rights, economic freedom, and curbing climate change. In Taiwan, the FNF Global Innovation Hub was established in 2021. On Sept. 25, 17:00-18:00 (GMT+8), the 5th Innovation for Democracy Cafe will explore how to use VR to innovate the approaches of human rights and democracy education with two experts: Ms Singing Chen and Ms Zoe Lee!
