Sensing stresses adaptation at the whole-tree scale at VPDrought in Pfynwald

https://www.wsl.ch/de/projekte/sensing-stresses-adaptation-at-the-whole-tree-scale-at-vpdrought-in-pfynwald/

During periods of low water availability, trees differently modulate C and H2O fluxes to balance photosynthesis, growth, and other metabolic activities. However, we still do not know how increased vapor pressure deficit (VPD) and reduced soil water availability periods affect whole-tree hydraulics.
To efficiently manage these processes, trees have developed various water-use strategies

Species interactions in beaver engineered habitats link land-water ecosystem processes

https://www.wsl.ch/de/projekte/sfsf/

The overarching goal of this project is to assess how habitat heterogeneity caused by beaver engineering influences the diversity, strength and nature of interactions within and between aquatic and terrestrial communities, and how changes in species assemblages relate to ecosystem processes.
Together with the external collaborators, we have selected 16 beaver-engineered ecosystems

ADOHRIS – Advantages of downscaling climate to high resolution for climate change impact studies

https://www.wsl.ch/de/projekte/adohris-advantages-of-downscaling-climate-to-high-resolution-for-climate-change-impact-studies/

Currently, there is scientific consensus that higher spatial resolution also increases the accuracy of models that model the effects of climate change; however, to what extent is still largely unknown.
A variety of models examining climate change impacts have already been computed using
