As part of the Country Working Group (LAG) of the Course of the Postgraduate Training Programme, this project dealt with the microfinance sector in developing countries, in particular in Uganda. Having a well-developed financial sector, Uganda still has to face several challenges to meet the rapid expansion of Microfinance institutions (MFI). First positive steps were made by introducing the Microfinance Deposit Taking Institutions Act providing a legal framework in order to regulate MFI. Based on these developments, the LAG examined the Ugandan Microfinance sector by posing different questions.
