Available online are a set of photographs taken by Paul Nash. Paul Nash began working regularly with a camera in 1930 when he was forty-one, and continued until his death in 1946. His camera was an American-made No. 1A pocket Kodak series 2 – a present from his wife, Margaret, when he went to America in 1931. Many of his photographs show a similar interest in unusual compositions and the same sort of response to the beauty and mystery of the English landscape. Items chosen from this collection for digitisation include photographs of wall murals, posters, and graffiti Northern Ireland, taken by Conrad Atkinson during the ‚Troubles‘ in the early 1970s, as well as source material and original sketches by the artist for the exhibition catalogue for ‚A Shade of Green, An Orange Edge‘, at the Art Council Gallery, Belfast, 1975. Also chosen are writings and organisational documentation relating to the formation and activities of the Artists‘ Union.
