Nordic inter-governmental co-operation on research and education is headed up by the education and research ministers, who make up the MR-U. The role of the Nordic Council of Ministers for Education and Research is to help ensure that the Nordic Region retains a leading position as a knowledge and skills region. Nordic co-operation involves Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden as well as the three autonomous areas, the Faroe Islands, Greenland and the Åland Islands. The political co-operation is built on common values and a willingness to achieve results that contribute to a dynamic development and increase Nordic competencies and competiveness. In this context, MR-U concentrates on promoting Nordic synergies in the following key areas: schools and adult education, higher education and research, language co-operation throughout the region and information and communications technology. Eurydice is the „Network on education systems and policies in Europe“. Amongst others, it provides very comprehensive country profiles on on education systems in Europe (formerly know as „Eurypedia“). All areas of education are covered from early childhood to adult education, as well as overarching issues. Each country participating in Eurydice hosts a national unit responsible for regularly updating the information. Due to the same structure of the chapters / education sectors for every country, it is easy to compare different countries. NOSP contains references to serials available in Nordic and Baltic libraries. Article copies may be requested from the holding libraries via the online ordering service. NOSP covers all subject areas. The main emphasis is, however, on natural science, medicine and social science. NOSP has been existing since 1977 and is based on a co-operation between national union catalogues and national libraries in: Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, the Faroe Islands and Norway. inclusive teaching material (itm) – english information

The project „itm“ aimed at analysing teaching material from Sweden, Italy, Germany and Luxembourg with regard to their inclusion-sensitivity. Based on this analysis, the project partners went on to compile evaluation criteria and develop inclusive teaching materials themselves. Under „project goals“ you can find a criteria catalogue, a process model, publications, a concept for teacher training, and an accompanying study for quality assurance. NORFACE – New Opportunities for Research Funding Co-operation in Europe – is a partnership between 18 research councils to increase co-operation in research and research policy in Europe. The fifteen partners involved are the research councils for the social sciences from Austria, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovenia, Sweden and the United Kingdom. This partnership is built on a history of less formal co- operation and joint activities between the Nordic and UK research councils. NORFACE formalises this existing working relationship and provides a framework and a vision for a durable multi-national strategic partnership in research funding and practice.
