Forscher des Deutschen Instituts für Entwicklungspolitk (DIE) haben neue Erkenntnisse zur Konstruktion von Armuts- und Ungleichheitsindices und Auswahl von Armutsdimensionen geliefert. Insbesondere wurde der „Correlation Sensitive Poverty Index“ (CSPI) entwickelt, der im Gegensatz zu UNDP’s „Multidimensional Poverty Index“ (MPI) Ungleichheit und Korrelationen zwischen Armutsdimensionen erfasst, sowie ein Pro-Poor Growth Index, der auf der Umverteilungskomponente von Änderungen im Armutsgefälle basiert und misst, ob die Armen überproportional vom Wachstum profititieren. Damit trägt das Projekt zur besseren Messung von Armut, Ungleichheit und Wohlbefinden bei, wobei es Theorie, statistische Genauigkeit und politische Legitimität verbindet.
