https://www.freiheit.org/bangladesh/bangladesh-infodemic-more-dangerous-and-worrying-coronavirus-pandemic

The first three known cases of COVID-19 were reported in Bangladesh on 8 March 2020 by IEDCR. Referring to the spread of fake news around the coronavirus, the Director General of WHO used the term “Infodemic”. Thanks to the massive usage of Internet, smart phones and social media such as Facebook and WhatsApp, misinformation and fake news related to the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 is more viral than the virus itself.

Greece: LGBTQ+ in Greece

Greece passed legislation recognizing same-sex unions and extending parental rights to LGBTQ+ people, marking a historic moment for LGBTQ+ rights in the country, as well as in Southeastern Europe. This progress represents a crucial step toward inclusivity and equality in a country where conservative values and orthodox Christianity have traditionally influenced public policy and social norms.

Poland: From Poland with Love – July

Poland is currently dominated by the issue of security, as Wagner Group exercises have been taking place on the Polish-Belarusian border since the end of July and migrants are once again accumulating there. Tensions are also growing in the education sector, with the Minister for Education interfering in the evaluation of science and, among other things, stopping subsidising German language lessons, which has affected thousands of children of the German minority in Poland.

NEWSLETTER: From Poland with Love – October

In the wake of Poland’s democratic victory, a seismic shift rocks the political landscape. Though PiS claims the lead, a coalition of Civic Coalition, Third Way, and the Left holds a clear majority. With PiS unable to secure power, President Duda’s move defies logic, appointing Mateusz Morawiecki. December holds the promise of a new era with Donald Tusk’s as the Prime Minister.
