Die bildreiche Erzählung hebt an mit den Worten: „Hoch oben in den majestätischen Rocky Mountains, wo die Berggipfel den Himmel zu berühren scheinen und die Wildnis in all ihrer Pracht erstrahlt, haben vier Leipziger Forscher:innen ein ehrgeiziges Abenteuer unternommen.“

Das Hochschulforum Digitalisierung (HFD) orchestriert den Diskurs zur Hochschulbildung im digitalen Zeitalter. Es wird 2020 und 2021 auch die Universität Leipzig bei der strategischen Ausrichtung ihrer Digitalisierungsvorhaben in Studium und Lehre beraten. Für die Peer-to-Peer-Strategieberatung, die bereits zum vierten Mal stattfindet, hat die Jury gerade sechs weitere Hochschulen ausgewählt.

What a loss! Prof. Dr. Sayan Mukherjee came to Leipzig University with great ideas and convincing plans for his research in the field of data science and statistics. He was not only full of inspiration and enthusiasm, but openminded, friendly, and warmhearted. It was always a great pleasure to meet him. He will be missed and remembered by colleagues and friends in Leipzig, in the academic field, and far beyond. I convey my deepest sympathy to his family.

I am deeply saddened. For me, the meetings with Sayan – for example as part of our jointly organized statistics seminar – were both professionally inspiring and very pleasant on a personal level. Sayan was also always available for advice. It is really very sad. I wish the family strength during this difficult time.
