https://medienportal.siemens-stiftung.org/portal/displayobjdetail.php?setlang=en&objid=112220

First, the term “cloud computing” is explained in general. Using the example of cloud-based language translation services, the text shows the role that big data can play here. The velocity is especially crucial. The information sheet also shows the worrying side of cloud computing.
The text describes how cloud computing works, how it is sensibly used, and how online

Photosynthesis

https://medienportal.siemens-stiftung.org/portal/displayobjdetail.php?setlang=en&objid=103814

Photosynthesis is one of the most important metabolic processes in plants. It produces the largest proportion of the oxygen in our atmosphere, without which we could not survive. This media in the media package provide a suitable way of acquainting students with the principle and the chemical process of photosynthesis. The media can used in chemistry and biology classes for the most part starting from grade 7. The media package contains selected media such as interactive graphics, exercises, worksheets, and links. These can be used as required, either as individual media or in combination.

For interactive whiteboards: The structure of the eye

The content package for interactive whiteboards on the structure of the eye can be used as an introduction or supplement to biology teaching. It contains selected media such as interactive graphics, exercises, worksheets, and links. These can be used as required, either as individual media or in combination. The content package is laid out simply and is intuitive to use, so that it can be used directly in the classroom. In addition to the content package for interactive whiteboards, this media package also contains the media that are integrated in the content package as individual media, so that they can also be used by teachers for other purposes. A teaching method for using the content package and guidelines presenting the individual media in context complete the media package.

Physics of sound – basic phenomena

https://medienportal.siemens-stiftung.org/portal/displayobjdetail.php?setlang=en&objid=102647

Students can identify strongly with the topic of “sound in relation to their everyday experience. For young people today the use of electroacoustic devices is second nature, and they are familiar with many everyday sound phenomena even if they might not know the explanation for them. This media package offers several media files dealing with basic sound phenomena. These represent just a small selection of the large number of media files relating to this topic that are available on the media portal of the Siemens Stiftung. A guideline helps teachers to work through the individual basic phenomena step by step focusing on the following aspects: 1. Phenomenological, i.e. the basic phenomenon is introduced using simple experiments or everyday situations (graphics or illustrations). The associated media can already be used in Personal, social and health education lessons at primary school. 2. Theoretical information in the form of simulations or information sheets are used to scientifically convey the basic phenomena at the level of secondary school physics and technology teaching (in some cases also on a cross-curricular basis with biology).

The teaching methods provide teachers with all the important information on using the worksheet of the same name and the related incremental hints in class. The learning prerequisites required of the students are: They should be familiar with alcoholic fermentation, and also with the fact that carbon dioxide is a respiratory poison at higher concentrations. The scientific background on the task and a possible variation are provided. The six incremental hints for the task are provided with the corresponding answers. They are also available as a separate ready-to-print medium named “Taking a candle into the wine cellar (hints for printing)” or as an interactive medium named “Taking a candle into the wine cellar (interactive hints)” on the media portal of the Siemens Stiftung.
