Rutgers is the Netherlands Centre on Sexuality. It has worked with young people on sexuality for more than 50 years. Comprehensive sexuality education empowers children and young people to form positive attitudes about identity, relationships and intimacy and equips them with skills to communicate and make their own decisions on sexuality and sexual health. It helps them understand and enjoy their sexuality, take responsibility for their own sexual and reproductive health and rights and respect other people’s.
The Education Council of the Netherlands is an „independent governmental advisory body which advises the Minister, Parliament and local authorities.“ The English version of the new website provides information on the organisation and working methods of the council as well as many publications on educational matters. The old website also provided statements and positions of the council on specific educational issues („files“), they can be found in the Internet Archive. The Netherlands Association of Universities of Applied Sciences (HBO-raad) brings together all 39 government-funded Universities of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. Together they have over 38,000 employees and over 400,000 students. The HBO-raad focuses on strengthening the social position of Universities of Applied Sciences.
