Anglerfisch-Arten: Allenichthys, Antennarius, Antennatus, Echinophryne, Histiophryne, Histrio, Kuiterichthys, Lophiocharon, Nudiantennarius, Phyllophryne, Rhycherus, Tathicarpus. Anglerfische (auch Fühlerfisch, Krötenfisch, Froggie oder Antennenfisch genannt) sind faszinierende Tiere. Gut getarnt und regungslos sitzen sie auf Schwämmen, warten auf dem Sand vor Löchern oder verstecken sich zwischen Korallen und lauern auf ihre Beute. Ein Flossenstrahl ist in eine Angel (Illicium) umgewandelt, der Köder (Esca) sieht wie ein kleiner Fisch, eine Garnele oder ein Wurm aus. Diese Angel wedelt der Anglerfisch vor dem Kopf hin und her, wenn ein Fisch sich diese Beute schnappen will wird er selber zur Beute – blitzschnell reisst der Anglerfisch sein Maul auf, klappt seinen Kiefer hinaus und durch den dadurch entstehenden Unterdruck wird der Fisch eingesogen. Dieses Verhalten nennt man Angriffsmimikry.
