Mindestens 10% bis 20% des BIP der meisten Länder wird durch Nachfrage der öffentlichen Hand generiert. Praxisbeispiele zeigen, dass die Verknüpfung öffentlicher Beschaffung von Gütern und Dienstleistungen mit ambitionierten Nachhaltigkeitsanforderungen eine große Hebelwirkung für die Transformation in Richtung Nachhaltigkeit entfalten kann. Das Projekt wird sowohl Forschungslücken bearbeiten, z.B. zu Governance-Bedingungen nachhaltiger Beschaffung, als auch Wissensdiffusion und Erfahrungsaustausch zwischen Praktikern des Globalen Südens und Nordens befördern.
