The leaders of the first two Dioscuri Centres have been selected. In the selection procedure, Aleksandra Pekowska and Grzegorz Sumara prevailed against 45 applicants from all over the world. The Dioscuri Programme was initiated by the Max Planck Society, is jointly managed with the Polish National Science Centre (NCN) and aims to establish internationally competitive research groups in Poland.

Simone Schwanitz appointed Secretary General

In its meeting on 19 November 2021, the Senate unanimously recommended Simone Schwanitz as the new Secretary General. Against the background that the incumbent Secretary General Rüdiger Willems will retire on 31 May 2022, Martin Stratmann had appointed a search committee at the beginning of 2021 to identify a suitable candidate for this office.

The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg has informed the Max Planck Society that it wishes to transfer the Max Planck Institute for International, European and Regulatory Procedural Law, which is fully financed by the Grand Duchy, to the University of Luxembourg over a transitional period of three to four years, i.e. until the retirement of the two directors currently in office.

Dioscuri: Fourth call for Dioscuri Centres now open

With five Dioscuri Centres already established at Polish Host Institutions, the Max Planck Society and the Polish National Science Centre are looking for the next Centre leaders in their fourth call for Dioscuri Centres in Poland. Applications for a Dioscuri Centre may be submitted until June 15th, 2021.

Dioscuri Programme: Launch of first call for proposals in the Czech Republic

Up to three Centre leaders will be funded in the frame of the first call for Dioscuri Centres in the Czech Republic. Early-career researchers from all scientific disciplines are invited to submit their application for a Dioscuri Centre until July 25th, 2022.
