Das Regionalbüro der UNESCO in Dakar, BREDA (Bureau régional de l‘ UNESCO pour l’éducation en Afrique), ist das größte UNESCO Büro in Afrika. The UNESCO Regional Office for Education in Africa / Bureau régional de l’UNESCO pour l’éducation en Afrique (BREDA) in Dakar is the largest UNESCO Office in Africa. Established in 1970 to address educational planning issues in Africa South of the Sahara, BREDA, over years, extended its fields of action so much that it now covers not only other education sub-sectors but deals also with other areas of competence of the Organization: Science, Social Sciences, Culture and Communication. ERNWACA-ROCARE wurde 1989 als Netzwerk von Bildungsforschern aus 17 west- und zentralafrikanischen Ländern gegründet. Das Netzwerk kooperiert in verschiedenen Forschungsprojekten, aber auch in der Praxis (Beratung, Implementation) mit den Bildungsministerien, NGOs und Universitäten der betreffenden Länder. Die Webseite bietet außerdem eine digitale Bibliothek mit vielen Volltexten (nationale Berichte, Studien, die Zeitschrift Journal of Educational Research in Africa u.v.m.). Seit August 2016 gibt ERNWACA-ROCARE auch eine eigene Zeitschrift heraus, das ERNWACA Outreach Journal (Revue de vulgarisation du ROCARE). – Neben ERNWACA-ROCARE gibt es seit 1992 das African Educational Research Network (AERN), welches 8 anglophone afrikanische Mitgliedseinrichtungen (Universitäten) umfasst, von denen zwei auch in ERNWACA vertreten sind. ERNWACA-ROCARE was founded in 1989 as a network of educational researchers from 17 West and Central African countries. The network cooperates with education ministries, NGOs and universities of the respective countries concerning research projects but also giving advice and dealing with implementation of concepts etc. The website also provides a digital library with many fulltext documents (national reports, studies, the Journal of Educational Research in Africa and more). Since August 2016, ERNWACA-ROCARE has been publishing the ERNWACA Outreach Journal (Revue de vulgarisation du ROCARE). – Besides ERNWACA-ROCARE, there is the African Educational Research Network (AERN) founded in 1992.
