The European Lifelong Guidance Policy Network (ELGPN) existed from 2007 till 2015. It was meant to support the EU member states and the European Commission in cooperating in lifelong guidance policy in education and the employment sector. In meetings, webinars and others, comprehensive material was elaborated to inform policy and decision makers. The website provides a database of initiatives and practices in lifelong guidance, a link to another database by Euroguidance that informs about guidance systems in the respective EU countries, a glossary with definitions of terms related to the topic, as well as many publications like guidelines, decision guidance or quality assurance guides. ANED wurde 2007 von der Europäischen Kommission ins Leben gerufen, um deren Abteilung zu Behinderung in der Entwicklung politischer Rahmenbedingungen und Richtlinien zu unterstützen. Die Europäische Kommission führte vom 17.12.2013 bis zum 15.04.2014 eine öffentliche Befragung zum Thema Fertigkeiten / Fähigkeiten und Qualifikationen im Europäischen Rahmen durch. Ziel der Befragung war u.a. zu ermitteln, wie die Anerkennung von Qualifikationen und Bildungsabschlüssen innerhalb der EU verbessert werden können. Damit zusammenhängend sollte ermittelt werden, wie die europäische Bildungspolitik die Anerkennungsprozesse weiter erleichtern könne und ob es Sinn mache, einen europäischen Rahmen bzw. bestimmte Richtlinien für Fähigkeiten und Qualifikationen zu entwickeln. Das Europäischen Netzwerks für eine Politik lebensbegleitender Beratung (ELGPN) war ein Netzwerk, das von 2007 bis 2015 die Staaten der EU und die Europäische Kommission bei der Kooperation in der lebenslangen Beratung in Schul- und Berufsbildung unterstützen sollte. Dabei wurden bei Treffen, in Webinaren und bei anderen Gelegenheiten umfangreiche Materialien zur Unterstützung der Politik der lebensbegleitenden Beratung erstellt. Die Webseite bietet unter anderem eine eigene Datenbank mit Initiativen und Praxisbeispielen, verlinkt auf die Euroguidance-Datenbank, die einen Überblick über das Beratungswesen der EU-Staaten bietet, ein Glossar, das Definitionen zu Begriffen in dem Themenspektrum bereithält, sowie umfangreiche Publikationen, die auch als Richtlinien, Entscheidungshilfen und Instrumente zur Qualitätsmessung dienen sollen.
