The Finnbase is envisaged as a tool for accompanying ongoing research and for facilitating continuous dissemination. Its conceptual framework is open for knowledge creation in a process of discourse. The design is such that researchers themselves can be the collaborative producers and maintainers of the knowledge base. AKKL, founded in 1972, is the cooperation body of the 47 Finnish vocational adult education centres. The association aims are to improve the professional competence of the working-age population, increasing the possibilities for studies based on the adults‘ own choices, to promote vocational adult education in a more international Finland, and to struggle against unemployment.
