Das 2005 gegründete Zentrum für Forschung zum Lebenslangen Lernen wurde von der Generaldirektion für Bildung und Kultur der Europäischen Kommission eingerichtet, um Expertisen auf dem Gebiet der indikator-basierten Evaluation und des Monitoring von Bildungs- und Berufsbildungssystemen sammeln zu können. D.h. eine wesentliche Aufgabe des Forschungszentrums ist es, Indikatoren zu entwickeln, auf Grundlage derer die Fortschritte der Bildungssysteme im Hinblick auf die EU-Bildungsziele überprüft werden. Auf der Eingangsseite wird erklärt, welche Disziplinen zum interdisziplinären Forschungsansatz gehören. Es gibt Links zum Arbeitsprogramm und den Publikationen und Veranstaltungen. Besonders interessant ist die Rubrik „Links“, die eine umfangreiche Sammlung an Akteuren aus dem Bereich Bildung und Bildungsforschung enthält.

Cedefop´s work on statistics and indicators supports and contributes to statistical developments at European and international levels to improve the relevance and quality of data as well as methods and tools for data collection. Cedefop´s statistics and indicators work also aims to support evidence based policy and practice in vocational education and training, lifelong learning and skills. Products and services include dedicated publications and regular updates of key online statistics. Users can also access further statistics, indicators or related information. Cedefop´s focus on vocational education and training statistics draws on European data collections and surveys to provide key summary indicators, from country trends in initial and continuing vocational training to resources and financing of VET.

Die Nationale Beobachtungsstelle (National Observatory) Lettlands ist Teil des National Oberservatory Netzwerks, das von der Europäischen Stiftung für Berufsbildung 1996 eingerichtet wurde. The Centre for Research on Lifelong Learning (CRELL) was established in 2005 in order to provide expertise in the field of indicator-based evaluation and monitoring of education and training systems and their contribution to the achievement of Community objectives specified in the Lisbon Agenda and more recently in the EU2020 agenda as regards this domain. CRELL combines expertise in the fields of economics, econometrics, education, social sciences and statistics in an interdisciplinary approach to research. CRELL is sponsored by the European Commission Directorate General Education and Culture (DG EAC) and co-ordinated by the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission (DG JRC).
