Letter from Vanessa Bell, 8 Fitzroy Street, Fitzrovia, London, to Duncan Grant, Charleston, Firle, East Sussex, originally enclosing a newspaper cutting of Charles Marriott’s ‚Times‘ review of her London Artists‘ Association exhibition. She reports the sale of 12 paintings at the show, including ‚Sketch for a composition‘ (bought by John Maynard Keynes) and ‚Farm at Fontcreuse‘, the wife of whose purchaser may acquire ‚Tulips in a green jar‘. Marriott’s generally favourable review criticised ‚Wading‘, a picture of Quentin, and ‚Nude‘, and his comments on ‚Sketch for a composition‘ have decided her against reworking it.
