Painted late in her career when she was experimenting with unconventional viewpoints, Sky with Flat White Cloud is the second in a series of seven paintings in which Georgia O’Keeffe took inspiration from flying in an airplane high above the earth’s surface, observing the surrounding atmosphere and cloud formations. Excited by the experience of air travel, she remarked, “I’ve often thought how wonderful it would be to simply stand out in space and have nothing!” In this painting and two others in the group, she divided the vista into three horizontal bands;

Line and Curve by Georgia O’Keeffe

https://www.nga.gov/artworks/70182-line-and-curve

Executed in 1927, Line and Curve is the last in a group of four highly abstract, predominantly white, narrow vertical compositions whose imagery can be traced in part to Georgia O’Keeffe’s interest in Manhattan’s modern architecture. As its title indicates, Line and Curve consists of a simple juxtaposition of a vertical line running down the center of the canvas intersected by a sweeping curve that extends through the upper right quadrant of the composition.

A leader of the impressionist movement — a central exhibitor and organizing force for several of their exhibitions between 1876 and 1882 — Gustave Caillebotte was also an avid gardener. Like his close friend Claude Monet, with whom he shared gardening expertise and exchanged tips, he created lush, vibrantly colored landscapes and translated them into paint on canvas.
